Also known as Mardyke Walk, it’s an interesting street as the exterior of most the houses here look like they haven’t been touched since the 18th century.
According to the Wikipedia article, the Tyndall National Institute specialises in “ICT hardware research, commercialisation of technology and the education of next generation researchers”. It was also included in the Queen’s itinerary on her visit to Cork in May 2011.
This was taken from the viewing platform on Aiguille du Midi . Aside from being inside a plane, this was highest point I’ve been above sea level and had prolonged period of altitude sickness. That being said, I wouldn’t mind giving it a go.
One of the tallest buildings in Las Vegas overlooks the entire city, that itself is incongruous to its desert surroundings. Aside from a stunning view, it features several attractions including a type of abseiling / free-fall from the top. Not for the faint of heart.
This was taken near Angkor Thom, Siem Reap last November, these donations would go to landmine victims.
The scars of the the Khymer Rouge’s brutal rule can be widely seen throughout Cambodia, almost every major area had it’s own stage for carrying out mass executions. Nowadays there are Stupas such as the one seen in Choeung Ek that serve as a constant reminder of the struggles that the Cambodians had to go through at the time.
This photo was taking at the Killing Caves on top of Phnom Sampeau in Battambang, not too far away from the entrance is a Buddhist Shrine so it’s hardly the place you would except to find death. The skeletal remains of the victims were put on display in a small cage. I couldn’t say whether or not these strips of clothes hanging from the line came from the victims.
It’s hard not to be in awe of Chamonix surroundings when you first set foot in it, I came at a good time too. The end of March was approaching and there hadn’t been any snowfall for 5 weeks, it was reasonably comfortable between 15 – 20 degrees and still there was plenty of snow around as well .
The 5 hour trip to Las Vegas from Utah can really test your sanity when you only see sand, rock and road for what seems to go on endlessly. Not seeing this very often back home in Ireland, I was in awe.
