120: Freak of nature

I accidentally double exposed the film, the overlapping exposure was the camera pointing directly to the sky with me looking down it, hence the darker patch that displays an earlier exposure with interesting results. This was taken with the Zeiss Netar II.

Winter is coming

Days are getting shorter and despite some sunny spells the evenings are getting colder. Winter is coming all right.

Case of the curious cows

Beyond the Lee Field Park in Cork City there is a worn path that will take you alongside the Lee and eventually to a rusty gate and at least 3 or 4 kilometres closer to Ballincollig. Between you have electric fencing and curious cows to get through, relatively harmless despite the fact that a sign warning of a bull presence. Thankfully I have yet to find myself in that unfortunate circumstance.

Sailing in the Solent

My first proper sailing experience was on the Solent on a Southerly 32. I’m not in any way, shape or form an experienced sailor, so I was quite unfamiliar with the sailor parlance at the time but taking great satisfaction at watching others squirm when they hear me say “park the boat”.

120: Developing Test

Taking photos on a still camera may be a challenge but developing them takes it to a whole new level. The process itself not only boils down to having the right chemicals but being well aware of the temperature and timing of the process. And that’s not addressing how you get the film inside a developing canister or how you go about cleaning and drying it. The process overall can be very unforgiving if you make any mistakes.

My 2nd attempt fared a lot better than my first ( at which point I didn’t get past attaching the film on to the reel properly ). I had bought cheap film to test ( Lucky SDH 100 ), using a Fotospeed developer ( FD10 ) at a dilution of 1+14 for about 14 minutes at 20 – 21 degree Celsius. The film was incredibly sensitive to dust and scratches, and it curls, a lot.

Aside from those minor issues, I was quite satisfied with old look of the film and for that purpose I didn’t bother removing the dust and other particles from the film.

Moon

Decided to take advantage of a newly purchased teleconverter by taking snap of Earth’s biggest satellite . It’s not incredibly detailed with 400x zoom but it’s fun to recognise some of the patterns that this image points out.

The Elysian Garden

The tower itself can be seen from most parts of the city but the garden itself seems carefully concealed from public view … unless you’re looking down from a tall building.
