The Battambang Killing Caves, Cambodia

The scars of the the Khymer Rouge’s brutal rule can be widely seen throughout Cambodia, almost every major area had it’s own stage for carrying out mass executions. Nowadays there are Stupas such as the one seen in Choeung Ek that serve as a constant reminder of the struggles that the Cambodians had to go through at the time.

This photo was taking at the Killing Caves on top of Phnom Sampeau in Battambang, not too far away from the entrance is a Buddhist Shrine so it’s hardly the place you would except to find death. The skeletal remains of the victims were put on display in a small cage. I couldn’t say whether or not these strips of clothes hanging from the line came from the victims.
